This week I want to talk about the Diet I have embarked upon in my quest to lose 60 Pounds,

but …….. Its Wednesday…..and I’m too lethargic to think….

 

Thursday…. Nope, not happening.

 

 

Ok… It’s Saturday.  This first week was really tough, but I’m feeling pretty good today.  It’s called the Ketogenic Diet, Lovingly nicknamed “Keto’ by devotees, the Abysmally Brutal, Torturous Diet Straight From The Pits of HELL by me.  The inventor must have been Jekyl and Hyde because that was me this week.  By day three my co-workers were looking at me in disgust and telling me to eat a piece of Cake already.

 

Now, when I’m hopped up on potatoes and skittles I’m the nicest, happiest person you ever met.  Take away my sugar and starches and apparently, I become Helga the Snappy Witch.

 

 

“What are you looking at? You know I’m Fit Boxing now … I’ll kick you in the Face!! “

 

They call the symptoms you experience the first week Keto Flu.  This is a list of the symptoms, and I can attest that every single one of them are TRUE fact!!

~ Fatique

~ Dizziness

~ Headache

~ Brain Fog

~ Nausea

~ Leg Cramps

~ Straight-up Bitch Syndrome (ok, I added this one, but it’s true!)

 

Here are some things that helped me thru it.

~ Electrolyte Water

~ Powerade Zero

~ Yelling at everyone (according to everyone)

~ Multivit (Vitamin specifically for those on Low-Carb diets)

~ Going to bed as early as possible. (can’t eat when your asleep!)

 

So that was the first week.  It’s Saturday now and I’m actually feeling so much better.  My hostile feelings have subsided, Now, let me break down the diet for those of you who are not familiar with it. 

  

 

The Keto Diet is a low Carbohydrates Diet, where the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy.  When you eat something high in carbs you body will produce glucose.  Since glucose is used as your primary energy, your fats are not needed and are therefore stored.  By lowering your intake of carbs the body is induced into a state known as Ketosis.  During this state, you produce Ketones, which are produced from the breakdown of Fats in the Liver.  The end goal is to force your body to use these Fats for energy instead of carbs. Bye-Bye Fat!!!

 

I’m not sure if I’m in Ketosis yet, but i know that I feel more energetic then I have in a while, I’m not Hungry all the time and It’s getting easier to resist the constant stream of Candy, Cookies, Cake and Ice Cream that my oh so supportive family and friends March in Front of my Face daily. 

 

In their defense, who can blame them? No one wants to be subjected to HELGA the NASTY!
